On the job training.

Uh, just in case you were under the impression that working at the circulation desk was easy, it isn’t a piece of cupcake. It isn’t calculus hard, but there are so many procedures to remember. My trainer has been doing it for a few years and is able to complete each task without blinking twice, so in time I will get it too.

The not knowing stage is nerve-wracking, half of the mistakes I make are because I’m nervous. Gah! The only consolation I have is that I know I’m not the only who feels this way. I shouldn’t say that’s my only consolation because most of the library staff has been friendly and that helps a lot too.

My last supervised session is on Wednesday. Send me some positive energy.

  1. Just have fun and be yourself. I sometimes keep a running list of questions I am unsure about. You’ll be fine. They are already leaving at the desk by yourself. lol That’s always a good sign.

    • Despite my nervousness, I did still have fun interacting with patrons. And I’m not at the stage where they leave me alone at the desk, that’s probably a few months down the road. 🙂
