Library Tour: Charles E. Miller Branch

The student chapter of the ALA at UMD hosts tours throughout this semester to different libraries in the DMV. I went to a recent tour of the Charles E. Miller library, which is a branch of the Howard County Library.

It was a beautiful library, like extremely beautiful, you really need to see it for yourself.

The self-checkout machines looked super fancy, there were at least 100 computers available to patrons, and I was mesmerized by technology of the book return.

It also houses the Historical Center where I geeked out from seeing a card catalogue.

It’s the type of library where you could hangout as if it were a bookstore, or relax on the rooftop. Definitely a place the surrounding community would want to be.

Libraries would never be in danger of disappearing with locations like this.
