Coffee and my Alma Mater

I saw some news about UCI Libraries and their exhibit on the history of the coffee bean. Read more about it —–> here.

  1. Evelyn, not sure if you’re aware but VONA is accepting applications for summer 2015 workshops. They have moved permanently to the University of Miami and will no longer be in Cali. That’s great for me. They are also offering two one-week long sessions. I’m tickled that Popular Fiction is now among the offerings. Anyway, you can get details from the VONA website. Let me know if I can help with anything.

    • Yes I heard about it and will apply again this year. I tried for Speculative Fiction last year, and suspect I will try again for it, but the LQBTQ workshop is also intriguing.

I have a question for you. Would you advise using the same piece of writing or a different one the second attempt.

      • Tananarive Due is an awesome writer and teacher. Im not familiar with the instructor for LGBQT, so can’t comment.

I would think you would want to submit whatever work that best represents you… I wouldn’t think it mattered if you sent the same piece. I do remember Elmaz saying that the personal essays are what carries the most weight with them, not the writing samples.
