Author Reading with the Hurston/Wright Foundation

Have I mentioned that I help manage the Hurston/Wright Foundation’s social media pages? Well, I do and I’ve been doing it for a few years. Occasionally, I attend the events and take pictures to create some content for Twitter or Facebook.

During Writer’s Week in the summer, the workshop leaders give a reading for their students and anyone else who is interested in attending.

Mitchell S. Jackson, the fiction workshop leader, read first.

Then, Pamela Newkirk, read and talked about the nonfiction book she wrote on Ota Benga.

Tiphanie Yanique ended the reading with selection from her collection of poetry, Wife.

And then Marita Golden started off the Q & A portion of the evening. I had to leave shortly after that, but right before I left, I saw this cute pin of James Baldwin.
