So I’ve been chewing on this idea, an idea that incorporates my fascination with natural hair, books, and libraries all at the same time. I think the inspiration for this idea came from Oyin Handmade, Black Library Girl, and also Library Wardrobe. I call my idea Highly Textured Librarian.
Being highly textured in this instance means more than having kinks and curls, it also is a reference to books and intelligence. The librarian part is self-explanatory but a better label might be information professional, because I’d like paraprofessionals, library students, and volunteers to also be included in my idea. Highly Textured Information Professional doesn’t have the same ring though.
I still haven’t explained the idea yet. What I’d like to do is have a monthly post where I feature one person in libraryland who wears their hair naturally – and by naturally I mean kinky/curly hair that hasn’t been relaxed. Each person featured would answer three standard questions and a bonus one; and also submit a few pictures of their hair, influential books, and maybe one in a library setting.
I’m still working out the kinks bugs on my idea, but you get the gist, right?
So who wants to be my guinea pig? 🙂
How exciting. This makes me want to go get a job at a library so I can be interviewed.
You should volunteer at a library Mom. I bet you’d meet some interesting folks there…
*wink wink*
Ha! I agree with Susan!! 🙂
I’m in!
Excellent!
Great idea! Count me in too! Although I’m not very creative with my hairstyles these days….
Great!!
Sounds super intriguing. I find that I get just as many reference questions about my natural hair as I do about anything else.
Are they asking because they want to replicate your hairstyle?
I am a natural as well. I think the idea is too cool! ;0
Does that mean you are volunteering to be featured? 🙂
I’m in too! Thanks Evelyn for the link!
You’re welcome. Glad to have you on board.
This sounds cool! I’m in!
Yeah. This is going to be fun.
Cool idea! This is a great way to network and show off the cute hair.
I’m currently a second semester library science student.
The networking factor…ah, I hope you are correct Carla.
Wow Evelyn…is it too late to sign up? I’m excited. Now…to find someone to take my ‘mugshot’….lol
No it’s not too late.
